I think that we need to value our "time to play" with new technology. We use a the term "time to play" rather than explore, experiment, discover, learn... "Playing" is definitely valuable and hopefully parents and administrators recognize this.
Totally agree. As a lead teacher at my school I have to be able to feel comfortable navigating and using the Portal and its applications before I can teach staff and students how to use it. "Playtime" is important, but when?
In order for tech. and apps to be implemented teachers have to be given dedicated time from administration. One of the reasons I have had success, and I am starting to see more use by other teachers was entirely due to the extra three periods of prep. time dedicated to Tech. leadership. I kept my regular prep. time and was given the extra periods to make sure I am always on hand for staff help, in house PD Creation, and growth of tech at the school.
